TWIN OAKS TAVERN WINERY TOUR AND FALL COLORS

Join us 11:00 am, Saturday, November 10, 2012, for a tour of the Twin Oaks Tavern Winery (http://www.twinoakstavernwinery.com/), 18035 Raven Rocks Road, Bluemont, Virginia 20135.

We will also form a caravan from a central location around 9:30 am. Caravan information will be sent out a few days before the event.

After the tour, we will enjoy a picnic lunch provided by the club. If you wish to attend, please RSVP to straight-eights-president@comcast.net by COB Wednesday, November 7, so we can be sure to have enough food. That means November 7, not November 8, 9, or 10. Also, if you RSVP that you will be there, please make every effort to be there. Thank you.

Here is some interesting information about the winery:

Twin Oaks Tavern Vineyard and Winery are a dream come true for the Evers family. While Donna Evers is the owner and broker of a thriving residential real estate firm, Evers & Company Real Estate, with offices in Chevy Chase, Dupont Circle and Bluemont, the Evers got "vineyard fever" traveling in Europe. They own an apartment in the 6th arrondissment in Paris, and they have visited many vineyards in France, including the ones in Burgundy, which they believe are the most inspiring in all of France. Equally inspiring are the vineyards owned by Donna's relatives who live in Zagreb, Croatia, where they have grown grapes and made wine for over a hundred years.

The Evers' country home, Twin Oaks Tavern, was a favored 1920s retreat for residents of the nation's capital to relax and enjoy refreshment in the cool breezes of the Blue Ridge Mountains. The mountainside location has the ideal altitude and mineral-rich soil to cultivate grapes and produce distinctive wines. They invite you to enjoy their wines and views of the Shenandoah Valley. Visit the tasting room with the stone fireplace in fall and winter, and enjoy the wine deck with its views of the valley in spring and summer. Bring your picnic, kids and dogs.
